Update: Can a Nonprofit be an LLC?

Many people confuse legal structure and tax structure. Nonprofit status is a tax designation, not a legal structure. When it comes to designating an LLC as a nonprofit entity, there are a lot of rules and regulations that restrict what can be done.

Last month we found an error in our YouTube video. We decided to remove it rather than have the error propagated. I apologize for any frustration this may have caused. Legal and tax structures are separate, but when it comes to nonprofits, the IRS has a lot of restrictions that do not mesh well with the LLC legal structure. If you see errors in my videos, please let me know. I know lawyers never make mistakes, but I haven't totally bought into the lawyer thing yet, so I am still half human, and an error sneaks in on me every so often.
